According to the ASPCA, petroleum jelly is not poisonous to dogs, though, if ingested, can have a laxative effect on the dog. If inhaled (snorted in while the dog is eating it or during vomiting), there is a minor risk that the dog will develop aspiration pneumonia.

Short answer: I wouldn't use it. Dogs groom themselves by licking themselves. If you put petroleum jelly on your dog's dry skin, he or she will most likely lick it off, resulting in a long night of diarrhea. Salmon Oil or Evening Primrose Oil offer extra vitamins that help keep a dog's skin and hair soft and healthy. These two oils are completely natural and only need a few drops into the dog's food each day for a noticeable effect.

The real question is why would you need too? There is a thing called doggie boots. Iditarod racers put it on their dogs so that snow wouldn't get caught in their pads. It helps with ice and snow. See, how do you think dogs in the race run fast without the getting hurt?

How do you clean and soften windshield wiper blades?

You can clean them by wiping them off with a vinegar-soaked cloth. It's not worth taking the time to soften them--they're cheap enough you can afford to just pull them off, throw them away and get new ones. You can soften them by applying petroleum jelly after you have cleaned them. Don't wipe off the petroleum jelly. Let it them air dry for about 10 minutes. Clean them first by using a soft cloth wet with vinegar & them wipe them a with a water dampened cloth. Wipe dry & then apply the petroleum jelly.

Is it Okay to use water on eyelids to moisturize?

Water won't help moisturize your skin (unless you're drinking it). I recently went through a spell of puffy, dry, very swollen eyelids caused by the skin on me eyelids being dry. What happened was I noticed the skin on my eyelids was dry so I used my face moisturizer on my eyelids and it made them really puffy, red, swollen, and much worse.SO, what you can do is use plain old petroleum jelly (like vaseline) on youe eyelids before you go to bed and it will moisturize your eyelids without making them puffy or anything.Petroleum Jelly is a great moisture for your skin (you can use it as chapstick too) and it's completely safe to use around your eyes. You can buy a small container of petroleum jelly at any grocery store, drug store, and even gas stations.Replaced by Mike 2 after thequestion and answer were vandalised

Is it safe to use vaseline petrolium jelly during intercourse?

If you're having sex with a woman vaginally then it is not at all safe to use petroleum jelly as this is difficult for the vagina to clean out so can trap bacteria and dirt within the vagina leading to increased risk of infection. Petroleum jelly is also a barrier cream, it keeps moisture in the skin it's on but at the same time doesn't let any additional moisture in - the mucus membranes of the vagina are very delicate so need moisture to keep them protected, petroleum jelly may result in vaginal tissues becoming dry and damaged so increasing risks of TSS and STD's. Besides all this, it's a byproduct of crude oil - who wants that on their genitals!?
