The torque specification, for the harmonic balancer on your 350 cubic inch engine, is 280 pounds per square inch. The torque specification may vary according to the manufacturer of the engine.
You can tighten ANYTHING too tight. EVERY bolt and screw has a specific torque specification. Look up what the torque specs are for the balancer bolt on your engine and tighten it to the specification.
first remove serpintine? fan belt then remove large bolt in middle of harmonic balance. this bolt usually has left hand thread next with a harmonic pulley ,puller, remove harmonic balancer.when removing this, there is a key in the balancer and shaft if a new key did not come with new balancer, make sure not to loose the old one install new balancer with key.use the bolt to pull balancer up tight where it needs to be and use proper torque on bolt
The engine has a harmonic balancer on it, but if it is off, it is easy to re-install. Simply line up the key and tap it on most of the way and torque down the center bolt.
You will need a harmonic balancer puller. Remove crankshaft bolt and washer, reinstall bolt without the washer approximately 10 turns. This will protect the threads in the crankshaft. Install puller and remove balancer. You cannot remove the balancer without this puller. They are inexpensive or try to borrow one.
Torque Setting for VS Commodore Harmonic Balancer Bolt- between 270-320 NM. The Best way is to check the bolt torque setting before you remove it.

Yes they sure did. It could be a 4-bolt main engine.
It is in the timing cover, just behind the balancer. 1 bolt holds it in.
loosen the center bolt and get your self a harmonic balancer puller just make sure you loosen the center bolt enough but not too much but you need a balancer puller.
