There are two main types of fermentation namely lactic acid fermentation and alcoholic fermentation. Lactic acid fermentation occurs in the muscle cells while the alcoholic happens when the glucose gets into the cell.
Lactic Acid Fermentation:
This process occurs in muscle cells mostly and forms lactic acid to form. That is why you feel a burn when you work out.
Alcoholic Fermentation:
This process produces molecules of alcohol and Carbon Dioxide. An example of this is when one sees yeast rise. The CO2 being formed makes that yeast rise up.
The products of ethanol fermentation are ethanol and carbon dioxide. The products of lactic acid fermentation are lactic acid and, occasionally, other acids and alcohols.
They have different oxygen requirements
