European Americans colonized in the United States. Immigration is when a person leaves their own country for Another Country, but according to the Europeans the United States was the "New World" and was not yet a country, thus all the fighting.

Did Italian Americans immigrate or colonize in the United states?

I agree with my colleague Colin Peters that, as written, the question is nonsensical. An Italian-American is born in America and can therefore not colonize or immigrate to a country where he already lives. If the question intends to ask where Italians who came to America did so by way of colonization of immigration, it would be IMMIGRATION. I am sure that the Italian immigrants would have preferred to colonize virgin soil, but alas, they came a little late to the party.

Did the Mexican Americans colonized or immigrate to America?

First, It is good to rephrase the question because stating it this way might cause you to loose points on future assignments. Are Mexicans in the United States of America because they immigrated or colonized America? It is important to remember that they colonization means that they forcefully took ownership of the land in which they live and preserve. Seeing that the land was colonized by those of European descent. This being said, Mexicans did not colonize the United States, they came into the scene after the fact. The assignment you are to complete that has you ask this question, is not referring to Mexico's early involvement in Texas. It is referring to the presence of Mexico in the United States as a whole. Finally, these people left Mexico in hopes that the United States would serve as a better home and workplace then their previous arangements. This being said, the Mexican presence in the United States is directly the result of the immigration of the Mexican people to the United States.
