Not directly. As with most of the people back then, Henry VIII thought that Martin Luther was mad and Henry VIII had even published a condemnation of him. However, the general atmosphere and the problems that made it possible for Martin Luther to leave the Catholic Church also made it feasible for Henry VIII to break with Rome and to take all of England with him.

. Neither had a good reason, both of them were reasonably well educated Catholics and both of them should have known better. Martin Luther sought in Scripture some justification for his personal sins and, not finding them, rewrote the Scriptures by removing books from the Old and New Testaments and putting words in Paul's letters in order to bolster his new doctrine. Henry VIII put his own will above that of God and instead of rewriting The Bible, just made himself head of his new Church and fired all the bishops and priests if they would not go along with him.

Martin Luther had the better excuse for ridding himself of the Catholic church. He wanted to form the religion to his own liking since he disagreed with what they practiced. There was no wrong in that. Henry VIII broke away from the church just so he could legally and religiously say that he was divorced from his wife. Since the Catholic church wouldn't grant him a divorce he modified it so that he could. Martin Luther created the protestant religion while Henry VIII created the church of England that eventually went back to being Catholic, then back to church of England, then back to Catholic and ext.

AnswerI suppose that's a matter of opinion. Perhaps a brief summary of their reasons will help you decide.

Luther: felt the leadership of the church had become corrupt and had drifted away from the true principles laid out in the Bible. When he made his outrage public in the hopes that the church and its leaders would reform, the Pope kicked him out of the church rather than attempting to fix the very real problems he pointed out.

Henry: wanted to divorce his wife and remarry, and was told by the Pope that he couldn't, so basically declared himself "pope of England" and gave himself permission to divorce and remarry. Wound up having six wives (not at the same time, of course), two of whom he divorced, two of whom he had executed; one of the other two died of natural causes and the other one outlived him.

Martin Luther broke away because he believed that the Catholic Church had become corrupt. Henry VIII accepted that corruption existed in the Church and broke away merely because he sought to have his marriage to Catherine annulled. Whether or not Luther was correct, his reason was more honourable.

Who created the Lutheran church?

His followers. I have been raised Lutheran and I have learned that Martin Luther's original intentions were not at all to break with the Catholic church, he in fact encouraged his followers not to break from the church, he just wanted to change the corruptness of it and focus more on the Bible. The way I understand it to be is that Martin Luther's followers (not Martin Luther, it was after his death) broke from the Catholic church because they recognized the strength of the church itself and were insulted by the fact that the Catholic church excommunicated Luther.

What declaration caused Martin Luther to be excommunicated from the Catholic Church?

Martin Luther was excommunicated from the Catholic Church due to his Ninety-Five Theses, which he posted on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany, in 1517. In these theses, Luther criticized the selling of indulgences by the Catholic Church, questioning its authority and practices. This led to a chain reaction of events that ultimately resulted in Luther's excommunication in 1521.
