Did the ancient sages in India fly while doing meditation as shown in some media?

Like in any religion these phenomenon always seem to take place in the distant past or in the near future So common sense dictates that it would be highly unlikely.

First things first, Meditation is silencing BODY, MIND & INTELLECT.

Secondly, While meditating in the initial stages on Chakras, they release lot of trivial and major powers like Levitation, etc... Such things are natural & are documented in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi TM Classes.

Now about the Question,

Did the ancient sages in India fly while doing meditation as shown in some media? The answer is an emphatic NO. They did not fly while doing Meditation!!!

The Sages were beyond such small display of powers. Sages are Masters who work with and under the guidance of the Effulgent Eternal LIGHT (GOD)!

Sage Gheranda and Sage Patanjali have documented few techniques, which is being practiced across the world even today to fly as a mode of travel. But that again won't be during Meditations. Sage Mahavatar Babaji (Babaji Nagaraj), does fly in his Light Body to various locations across the world and across Galaxies along with his inner circle of disciples. In Tahiti in Soyuth Africa regions the Shaman and Tribal Yoginis use Tantrik methods and do fly. In the ancient land of Bharata varsha too many are equipped with siddhis, yet they do not use it everytime.

Few of the sane and safe techniques which needs to be practiced with diligent care and guidance under a trained master are 'Paduka Siddhi', 'Khechari Vidya', 'Divya Shareera Dharana Siddhi', 'Akasha Gamana Siddhi', etc...

Again these siddhis are acquired during Meditations as stated earlier and no sage ever Flies during Meditations! Yes they do release their Awareness and expand in the unknown realms to gain knowledge and energies for Loka Kalyana and they work for entire creation.
