European explorers brought Infectious Diseases to North America which the Native Americans had no natural immunity against. Chicken pox, measles, and smallpox were common and rarely fatal among Europeans, but often proved deadly to Native Americans. Epidemics sometimes destroyed entire village populations. Some historians estimate that up to 80% of some Native populations died from European diseases.

I believe you are referring to syphilis.

You should be aware that the theory that syphilis is an American disease that was brought back to Europe by early explorers is just one of several theories and not universally accepted.

Others believe that it has been in Europe for centuries and some say that some of the writings of Hippocrates describe syphilis.

Actually, it was the other way around. More disease was taken to the America's than given to Europe. The explorers brought STD's, small pox, flu, colds, and many other old world diseases to the Americas.

What was the most significant European export that explorers brought to the Americans and why?

When the Europeans arrived in North America there were no" Americans", but there were many native American tribes who were living there. They gave disease and death to the native Americans when they arrived. When they landed from the Old World to the New World they brought the export of disease that the populations they met hadn't been exposed to before. Smallpox, flu, STD's and other diseases were given to the New World and killed thousands.
