It may very well have shocks in the rear or it may have the Air Ride system. Crawl under the car and look see.

best results are to replace the air struts with conventional macferson struts.use Taurus struts of the same year,front struts are straightforward,however the rears my need one hole drilled to access the difference in the bolt pattern of the upper strut mount.
