The kiwi does live in temperate rainforests in New Zealand. It is not found in tropical rainforests. The kiwi's habitat is also native forests, and kauri and coniferous forest where the undergrowth is dominated by tree ferns.

Contrary to popular belief, pineapples are not native to Hawaii. They were originally from an area around Southern Brazil and Paraguay. It was introduced to the Caribbean long before Hawaii where it was introduced sometime in the 19th C.
The first commercial plantation didn't start until 1886. Prior to this, pineapples were being grown in greenhouses in Europe as early as 1770.
Very little commercial pineapple cultivation occurs in Hawaii now. Most of the business has been shipped off the Asia. Check your cans and you will find most pineapple now comes from Thailand or the Philippines. Costa Rica and Côte d'Ivoire are also big producer. Hawaii doesn't even rank among the top 10 producers any longer.
Brazil, Chile and Columbia are among the top producers so yes, the pineapple did and continues grow in South America and most certainly the rain forest.
