As far as I know there is none. Unless major damage to the hub or something or your putting a brake kit on you shouldn't have to change the caliper. The brake may have a little wire stub sticking off so when they get too low it'll make noise. It doesnt hurt to check by just taking off the wheel and physically inspecting them. The wheel torque is 100 ft lbs.
My 2004 did not have any sensors on it. The brake pads were starting to make sounds on the front driver side. I was going to wait until the end of the week to replace the brake pads but the caliper broke before i got a chance.
So if you hear the brakes making a noise replace the pads quick. By the way the calipers are made out of green ceramic, a first for me. The 2000 may be a little different, but I doubt it has sensors, since the 2004 doesn't.
It will however tell you once the brake fluid is low after the caliper breaks, lol. I guess that is a little too late though.
If you manged to replace the rotors w/o unhooking the calipers - no.
you will get better results if you change both sides at same time. when changing calipers you can buy a set of balanced and calbrated calipers. this means that both calipers are matched and will perform evenly on both brakes.
Brake calipers are the hydraulic devices that wrap around the rotors and pinch the brake pads into the rotors when you stop.
Certainly not. 2nd answer: If metal-to-metal grinding has been heard prior to the brake shoe change, slap your calipers on those rotors before deciding to have them turned.
Possible that the rear sensors are broken.
take off calipers and pull the rotors off the hub
after changing rotors
When changing the brake rotors on a 1990 Toyota 4runner the vehicle must be safely raised and propped up. The calipers must be loosen and rotors will be able to be removed. The process must be repeated for all four wheels.
Remove the wheel, the calipers and the rotors, reverse procedure with new rotors.
You probably did not lubricate the calipers when you changed them and they are sticking. Or its entirely possible that the rotors are too thin. Always clean and lubricate the brake assembly before reassembly.
Remove the brake calipers first. Then there are two small philipsa screws in the rotors remove them and the rotors come off then. Just reverse the procedure to replace. Rotor costs aprox $54.00 wholesale each. if you are just changing the rotors you can remove the caliper and mouning bracket as one
The front wheels have abs sensors if applicable. The sensors would be mounted to the spindles not the rotors.
