Each colony had vital differences between each other. These differences made them distinguished to everyone. The English colonies in the New World were different due to religious beliefs, economic ventures, and government policies. An immense part of the colonies were established because of religious beliefs. These essential colonies consist of Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Rhode Island was established after the fact that Roger Williams got banished from Mass. Bay and wanted to establish a place where there was religious freedom. Soon after William Penn wanted some place where Quakers could inhabit the land in peace. A substantial amount of the other colonies were people who ventuered out into other parts of the New World. Among the commerce colonies were Virginia, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, and the Carolinas. These colonies all had some type of merchant that could be sold for profits. With the exception of the Carolinas the others were established for mercantilism. The Carolinas also quickly adopted the slavery trade idea to work in the fields. There was also the colonies Georgia and Delaware. Georgia was established to be a penal colony, to protect the rest from intruders. Delaware was adopted so that the Pennsylvania settlers would have excess to the sea. Each colony governed themselves different in many ways. Connecticut was the first to establish a Constitution. The religious colonies were more theocracy then the other colonies were. The others were becoming democratics but were not quite there yet. The original colonies all differed in there own way. They governed themselves according to the people in them. The goal of the people also determined what type of religion would be prohibited. Most people came over due to the riches they were promised. The English colonies of the New World differed from one another in many of these ways.
