sometimes. this year 2010, the whole European continent was covered by snow including Portugal. a lot of flights were canceled due to heavy snow.
Life. Thousands of years ago the Celtic tribes would bring in evergreen branches into their homes during the solstice. In a world covered with snow and everything dead the evergreen was seen as life and hope. When the Celtic tribes were converted to Christianity the priests kept the evergreen as part of the new holiday Chris Mass so they brought the evergreen into the church as part of the celebration. The Romans also used the evergreen in their temples.
The idea for the Christmas tree, as well as the other thought-to-be Christmas holiday practices, including exchanging gifts, "nativity" scenes, and even flying reindeer, predate Christianity and the celebration of Christmas itself (which some sources claim was instituted by a pope in the fourth century of the common era in order to draw the early Christians' focus away from the then widely practiced pagan winter celebration of Solstice and Yule and to hopefully substitute new meanings to be assigned to those same pagan rituals.) Pagans then and now celebrate the lowest point in the path of the sun's travel, the darkest and coldest days of the year, by bringing in evergreens to either brighten up their indoor space with signs of new life or to offer a warm space for good spirits to come indoors and warm themselves up. Also, the prickly leaves of evergreens would catch any evil spirits as they tried to enter the home. Other faiths, including those of many Native American tribes also have similar practices that predate Christianity by many centuries.
Christmas decorations should not come down until the twelfth night after Christmas day
This is because the Christmas season does not end until January 6th the feast of the Epiphany
January 6th is also known as Three kings day because it is the day the three wise men reached Jesus 2 weeks after his birth
The proper night for removing your Christmas Tree and decorations is the evening of the 5th of January after dark this is twelfth night the eve of Epiphany
To take Christmas Trees down before this date or after this date is considered bad luck by many
All this of course depends on weather you follow the true Christmas season or the secular Christmas
The secular Christmas lasts one day and has no traditional side to it
The more traditional Christmas celebrated by most christians and Catholics begins at sundown on Christmas eve and ends 12 days later on January 6th
Its totally up to you what you choose to do but you consider doing it the right way
When people buy real Christmas trees on Christmas, it's an evergreen. More specifically, it would be a conifer. Even more specifically, it could be a white fir, which is Abies concolor, but there are lots of others that are also used.
yes why would you ask a question like that we celebrate christmaS JUST LIKE ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WITH CHRISTMAS DINNER AND TREES.
One of the most difficult things about decorating a Christmas tree is adding the ribbon. Choose three different ribbons, all different widths that compliment each other. Instead of winding it all the way around the tree, cut them into 12" strips. Next, make a 4" loop and wrap floral wire around the bottom of the loop leaving enough wire to attach the ribbon to the tree. Next, attach the ribbon to a branch with the floral wire about 5" towards the middle of the tree. Pull your loop and tails toward the front of the tree. Repeat this process all of your tree, spacing out evenly. This technique looks so much nicer than wrapping the ribbon around the tree.
Well that is a very good question but it is really a personal answerpersonally I prefer real trees because they are very beautiful and they smell nice too! But they can get very difficult to find sometimes but with the unreal tree you can just to go and get one quickly instead of searching and searching for the perfect one for that BUT you do have to put them together. However the real tree has to be put out so it can open up and that can take a few days.
Duhh duhh duuh
Here are the results:
Well if you have a lot of allergies, a pet, and don't like getting pine needles on your floor, go with an artificial tree, but if you like the natural smell, and watering a tree, go with real tree :)
If this question hasn't already been answered... I'll answer this question.
The true meaning of the Christmas Trees is that When Christ Died on the cross, he died
on a tree. And of course It wasn't a pine tree. But a pine tree is the only Tree that
we can use that actually has a style to it. I mean, would you want to sit around a dead
tree for Christmas? My point exactly. So there's my opinion.
