Fat grams per day?

The general fat recommendation is not usually given in grams. The general recommendation for fat intake is that individuals ages 19 and over should get 20-35% of their daily calories from fat. Children need a little bit more. Fat has 9 Calories per gram. If you want to calculate the minimum grams of fat you should shoot for, figure out an average of how many calories you eat every day, and multiply that number by .2 and the answer is the calories from fat you should be eating every day. Divide that number by 9 and then you will have the grams of fat per day.

Avoid saturated fat; most of your fat intake should come from monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat. The best sources of fat include fish, vegetable oils, olive oil, nuts, and seeds.
