English is the language of computer code. Many computer languages are built on the back of the English language. English ends up being the language of commerce because of the great number of inventors or manufacturing that had it's birth in England, America, Canada, Australia, West Germany etc. India being tied to Britain strongly uses the English language as well as Japan and their ties to the U.S. English has become the standard language of airlines and airports so as to prevent accidents.

At one time the sun did not set on the empire of England... having Egypt and other dominions under their rule. Even if that is not so any longer; the fact that most commerce, engineering, assembly etc are run from English speaking countries promotes the use of the English language as a common usage language far into the future.

The day may come when Mandarin may supersede English if enough commerce, trade and manufacturing stem from china and or Chinese speaking peoples emigrating to much of the rest of the world.

English has become an international language primarily due to historical events like British colonization and the economic and cultural influence of the United States. Its widespread use in technology, business, and popular culture has also contributed to its international status. The ease of learning English compared to other languages, its flexibility in adapting new words, and being a common language among diverse populations have further solidified its position as a global lingua franca.
