For a computer to become infected with a virus, this virus must penetrate the computer. The virus can penetrate using portable devices that are used to transfer data between computers, through a local area network of an organization, through other computer networks (for example, via the internet).
However, in addition to the virus penetrating the computer, there is another condition that infects the computer. This condition is that the program containing the virus should be executed at least once on the computer.

Never open the attachment to an email from someone you don't know, and don't forward any such email to anyone else.
Viruses can spread through any media or interlink. Beware accepting anything from anyone without a decent antivirus on their PC.

They can also travel via portable storage, such as a flash drive or even through a cellphone connection. Virus developers are getting sophisticated enough that they can take advantage of every feature of a computer, smart phone, or other smart device and turn it against you. Just be sure to protect yourself by using password best practices and by using the best antivirus software and have a professional computer repair technician check out your setup every few months or at least once a year.
