actually, you can have swollen lymph nodes from a sinus infection as well as other things. ANSWER: Your lymph nodes swell up as they stop bacteria that is carried through the bloodstream. Can a face truama accident cause a knot on the side of your neck this happened13 years ago there is one on the other side of yourneck in the same spot but not as big it is non painful it under the jaw?

I think you're telling me that you have knots just under your jaw on both sides of your neck that are not painful... These shouldn't be a result of a motor-vehicle accident 13 years ago. In this particular area of the neck are lymph nodes. You apparently are an adult, from the way the question is asked, and if these (I'll call them lymph nodes) have appeared since you've been an adult, I would suggest you check the front of your neck, and under your arms for big knots, as well as in the inside of your elbows and in your groin areas. If you find large lymph nodes in those areas, I would suggest you see a physician extender or MD. You might have developed them as a result of Infectious Mononucleosis or other things more serious. If you've had these since you were a child, they are normal (lymph nodes fight viruses and other kinds of infections) and the majority of folks walking around have them as a result of childhood viral diseases...

Should you be worried if you've always had a very small non-painful lump on the back of your head and now that you are pregnant the lump has grown big and now it hurts and what could it be?

It's possible that it could be a lymph node in an odd location. My little sister had a lump on her head when she was born and it turned out to be a lymph node. We were told it may become swollen when she's sick, just like any other lymph node. Lymph nodes can become infected and pregnancy appears to increase the possibility. You should see a doctor.

What is lymph nodes located under the arm?

Typically, lymph nodes anywhere in the body will enlarge when they are fighting an infection of the body as the lymph nodes are part of the immune system and help to drain out waste (lymph channels run parallel to many blood vessels). These lymph nodes enlarge when the immune response has been activated. Signs of infection; redness, warmth, fever, tiredness, pain. If it continues, see a professional (preferably wholistic due to the mutation resistance associated with antibiotics).Side note: Many nutrients can assist with infection in the body. Research this. Dr. Mercola of www.mercola.com suggests Vitamin C, D3, etc to help boost the immune system which the lymph is a big part. Sugar weakens the immune system. When infection is not present, it might also be that their function is decreased due to diminished movement as movement of the body pumps the lymph fluid throughout the body. (Another reason to deep breath, exercize and stretch, and eat healthy foods). If you massage these lymph nodes directly, you will interfere with their functioning. However, a lymphatic pump massage can be done at lymph junctions in the body to increase lymph drainage.Since your question deals with under the arm, you might research the toxic ingredients in anti perspirants which destroy nerve endings to eliminate or decrease the ability of the sweat glands to sweat (zirconium aluminum). Are there any lumps in your breast area (male and female)? This is another cause of possible blockage to the lymph nodes. The underarm is a site of billions of bacteria and when we repeatedly use the same deodorant stick or tube, this bacteria can grow between usage. Disinfect your deodorant and your underarm with soap and water and grain alcohol such as EverClear or Vodka. Do not use isopropol alchohol as this is toxic to humans according to many researchers and professionals. Check out the very interesting research done on the toxic substance of propanols found in 28 out of 28 different breast cancer tumors.Check with a professional.

What is the typical size of a breast cancer lump?

The size of a breast cancer lump can vary widely. Breast cancers can present as small, pea-sized lumps, or they can be larger masses. The size of the lump is typically measured in centimeters (cm) and is an important factor in determining the stage of breast cancer. In general, breast cancer is classified into stages based on the size of the tumor and whether it has spread to nearby lymph nodes or other parts of the body. The American Cancer Society uses the following general size categories: Stage 0 (in situ): The cancer is limited to the inner lining of the breast duct and has not invaded nearby tissues. At this stage, the tumor is often very small. Stage I: The tumor is 2 cm or smaller and has not spread outside the breast. Stage II: The tumor is either smaller than 2 cm and has spread to the lymph nodes under the arm, or it is between 2 and 5 cm and has not spread to the lymph nodes. Stage III: The tumor is larger than 5 cm and may have spread to nearby lymph nodes, or it is any size and has spread extensively to the lymph nodes. Stage IV: The cancer has spread to other organs of the body. It's important to note that breast cancer can vary significantly, and these are general categories. Some breast cancers may be detected at a very early stage, while others may be diagnosed at a more advanced stage.

What is bubo?

A bubo (Greek boubôn, "groin") (plural form= buboes) is a swelling of the lymph nodes, found in an infection such as bubonic plague, gonorrhea, tuberculosis or syphilis. According to historical records they were also characteristic of the pandemic responsible for the Black Death and perhaps other ancient pandemics. It usually appears under the armpit, in the groin or on the neck. Many doctors believed that bursting them was the answer, although in the view of modern medicine this treatment is useless or in fact harmful. There are reports of people using hen feathers in order to burst lymph nodes. When lymph nodes are burst, the puncture site can leave a patient at higher risk for dangerous infection. Buboes rarely require any form of local care, but instead recede with systemic antibiotic therapy. In fact, for plague patients, incision and drainage poses a risk to others in contact with the patient due to aerosolization of the bubo contents. Needle asperation can be done for diagnostic purposes and may also provide symptomatic relief. -BowieBoy

You have pains when swallowing and moving your neck?

Possible throat infection. Sounds like your neck lymph nodes are sore when you move your neck. Swallowing soreness is a big clue that your throat is probably infected. I recommend you get a "Rapid Strep test done, then start to drink lemon tea or something else with lots of citrus. (provided your throat is not so sore that you can't even tolerate citric juices)

WHY is there a hard painless big lump on the base of MY spine?

* Hmm, that's weird. A year before I had a painful lump, but it was on my neck. I learned it was a swollen lymph node, and the doctor suggested to my mom to have them surgically removed. I don't know why they were swollen, or why they could'nt wait for them to go back to normal, but they were painful. I think I also had a high fever. It was hard, and would move around a lot, when I touched. When they were removed eveythink was better, no more lumps I don't think lymph nodes form on the back, but they might. It could be an infection or added stress. If you have a human anatomy book, look at the back area to see if ir has lymph nodes. I hope it's nothing serious, because really that's what mine came out to be. I don't even think I needed surgery.

What are the differences between a benign tumor and a malignant one?

Benign means non cancerous, whereas malignant means it is cancerous. Benign tumors usually aren't as bad because they are easier to remove, not as likely to come back, and don't spread like malignant tumors do. However, they can be bad if they grow too big because they can press on other organs and restrict blood flow.

What is a white lump on the back of a five year olds boxer dogs neck?

While this lump is probably benign, the chance of it being cancerous is too big to ignore. Take the dog to the vet immediately. A cancerous growth on the neck, if it is caught before it metastatises (spreads to other parts of the body, especially internally) probably has a fairly good prognosis as it would not be too difficult to remove all of the cancerous tissue. If you care about your dog, get it to the vet now while there is still a good chance that if it is cancer, it will be curable. I totally agree with the above poster, but wanted to add generally white lumps are called 'fatty lumps' but. this information should NOT deter you from getting your dog in to be sure this lump is non cancerous.
