through checks and balance
Power maintained by the legislative branch over the executive branch is to help keep the executive in check. The legislative has the power to veto executive polices and can also impeach the president and other executive officers.
the founders and framers of the constitution expected the government to be mainly led by congress. they were fearful of having too strong of an executive branch abusing its powers, so they gave the legislators more authority to keep this from happening. the constitution displays the numerous abilities of the House and Senate to keep the other branches in check. hope this helps!
Congress which is a part of the Legislative Branch of the government, checks the president and the executive branch to keep them from overstepping their power.
Yes. Checks and balances are a form of government to keep each branch in order and to not give one branch too much power. For example the legislative branch can veto the executive branch or the executive branch can declare something unconstitutional.
The Executive Branch of US Government is comprised of the President, the Cabinet, and departments under the Cabinet members. The US government was designed to have three branches, providing a system of checks and balances that was supposed to keep any one branch from becoming too powerful. The President is in the Executive branch. Congress (the House and the Senate) comprises the Legislative branch. And the Supreme Court is the Judicial branch.
The executive makes general decisions about how the country is run (for example, whether to break off ties with a nation, strengthen the economic standing, etc.), whilst the legislature makes the laws. checks and balances allow the legislative, executive, and also the judicial branches to keep check on each other to make sure that one branch doesn't become too powerful or try to go above the law.
executive branch
No, this is not true. "Checks and balances" is referring to three separate but equal powers that keep each other from becoming too powerful or from oversteping their boundries. With only one branch of government there would be no one to control it. Three branches keep each other in check and keep the power balanced.
I don't really understand exactly what you mean but I will give my best guess for an answer. The president is meant to keep order in the U.S. without him the executive branch will be out of balance so will the judicial and legislative. The executive branch makes laws official the president approves and carries laws out passed by the legislative branch. He also approves or removes cabinet members he negotiates treaties, and acts as head of state and commander and chief of the military armed forces.
The powers of government are divided into three branches (executive, legislative, and judicial) and each branch of the government should limit the power of the others. Note that in many countries of the world, the executive and legislative roles (e.g. prime ministers) are not entirely separate, at least not as much so as the judicial.
none
Congress has the power to do several things in order to instill checks and balances. Congress has the power to overturn Supreme Court rulings, impeach the President and to conduct trials and to remove officers from the other branches of government.
