It is quite easy to change the thermostat in your 1990 Cutlass. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. Remove the thermostat from the housing. Reverse the process to install the new thermostat.
The brake light switch is located on a bracket behind the brake pedal support.

i have a 90 cutlass ciera with a v6 3300 and just replased that. it is called a combanation sensor. its the crankshaft and cam together located at the back of the harmonic balancer attached to the block. it has 2 bolts on the right side holding it to the block a one in the middle to hold the sensor in place and the sensor sits in it and faces the harmonic balancer on the back of the interrupter rings
You may want to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.
I have read a common problem with the 90-93 Oldsmobile cutlass is that the ground on the shift silinoid can cause it to lose 3rd and 4th gear, I am trying to figure out where it is located. Please if you know email email@example.com
