If you've lost body fat, you've lost weight (obviously). But the answer to this question is not as simple as 'just lose weight'. In an ideal world we would be able to lose body fat without losing muscle at the same time. However, I have yet to see anyone who is able to lose NOTHING but fat, all regimen's of change involve some loss of muscle. However there are some way's to minimize muscle loss while boosting your body fat losing power. Weight loss in general is nothing more than an imbalance of the calorie's in/calorie's out equation (burn more calories than you consume). To imbalance this equation there is the diet+exercise answer. In general, an exercise regimen that includes weight training at least 2x a week will help you maintain and possibly build muscle. This is absolutely essential to body fat lowering because it not only helps you avoid losing muscle weight but helps even out any anatomic imbalances and therefore build muscle which will burn more fat. As far as the diet portion of the program goes eating 5 smaller BALANCED meals a day has the most reported success. Balanced means include a non-refined starch, raw or steamed vegetable and lean protein source, keep the meals between 200-400 calories (depending on gender, age, etc.).
In short, lose weight by decreasing caloric intake and exercising in a way that helps you not only boost your short term metabolic rate (cardio) but helps maintain/build muscle mass as well (weight training).
