my hood release cable broke in my 1986 Honda accord. We had to remove the front bumper, and the metal piece behind that, and we were able to remove the bottom of the hood latch, and now I drive it daily on the interstate held down with an alon wrench in the screw hole, and 2 bungee cords (just in case) never had a problem.
