Shipwreck is basically a speaking competition. There's a common scenario here: You're a character, (for example Barack Obama, Justin Beiber[:P]) stuck on a sinking ship. You need to convince the captain of the ship to give you the sole lifejacket available. You need to tell him why you're a better choice for getting the lifejacket than any other character on the ship.

For the prep, what you can do is look up some common characters on the internet and research them really well. Stand before a mirror and rehearse the scenes out. Think of witty replies incase the judge/MOD or a fellow competitor interjects you while you speak.
