Native American have contributed significantly more than any other minority in the United States. The Iroquois Confederacy's government was a model the framers of the United States of America. Benjamin Franklin has onced quoted them for a superior form of government than anyone else in the world.

Many Native American tribes contributed to U.S. military. The Chickasaw, Choctaw supported the the U.S. in the American Revolution, War of 1812, and others military engagments. The Navajo (as with most Native American nations & tribes) supported the U.S. in World War II. Many tribal members served in Vietnam, Gulf War I, and today's conflicts.

Native Americans have explored space (John Herrington), written surrender documents (Ely Parker), contribution to literature (Sherman Alexie), contribute to the health of local economies (casinos, other enterpises), contributed to sports (Jim Thorpe, Billy Mills), guides for exploration (Sacagewea), helped found the Boys Scouts of America (Dr. Charles Eastman). And most importantly released their land holding for U.S. expansion-- this was not always a violent confrontation, some tribes received money and other goods/services for land.

Native Americans transformed their society for the United States of America.

The U.S. affected Native Americans. Answer 2:

It can best be said by what the US Congress said on the subject:

"Those savages stand as guardians to the treasure vaults of America."

The policy surrounding this attitude is now recognized as the first recorded act of Genocide in world history, and the largest as well (more than 10 times as many killed by Hitler).

This could be an extremely long answer, as there is a lot of influence at a lot of different levels.

  • The Cherokee 'Law of the Snake' is said to be the inspiration for the Gadsden flag, "Don't Tread on Me" - it should be noted that Benjamin Franklin who originated the ideal spent a great deal of time studying Native Americans;
  • The original symbol for the Iroquois Confederation is still used today as the Seal of the United States - while the Iroquois held six arrows, the US seal holds 13;
  • The original Iroquois Confederation agreement is said to be the founding blueprint for the US Constitution; in the way that individual states (nations) belonged to a larger governing body while still retaining independence
