The Suez Canal was built to shorten the distance traveled by goods and people from Asia to Europe. Prior to the canal, there were three choices to transport goods:
The time savings, as well as the savings of wear and tear on the goods and the ships, was well worth the fee. The purpose of building the Suez Canal was to allow ships to travel between the Mediterranean and Red Seas, which would increase trade between the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
It created a shipping path between the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, thence to/from the Indian ocean, thus elimnating by thousands of miles the shortest alternative voyage around Africa and the Cape of Good Hope.
There was a Suez canal in earlier times. It was built in the 7th century. It was built by Amr ibn al-'As.
To provided a shorter shipping route to the far east from the west
and when people cross the Canal they have to pay. When they pay they provide money for the country.
the canal got its name from the egiptians
The city of Suez, Egypt, at the southern end of the canal donated its ancient name to the canal itself.
To shorten the routes of trade from Europe to Asia etc. More efficient, less travel, faster money flow so them homies can get that dough na mean!
