Best Answer

None, that was a battle between French troops and Mexicans in Mexico.

However, it is believed that France was intending to use Mexico as a base to support the confederate army, which could have altered the entire outcome of the American Civil War. The battle of Puebla was a major victory for revitalizing the Mexican army to force the French out of their country.

if you mean the Texas - Mexico war, it didnt effect it at all. If you mean the war where the Mexicans were rebelling against the government, then it still didnt because it was after the Civil War.

Many Civil War Generals got their first war experience during the Mexican American War

The main reason for the secession of Texas from Mexico was that Mexico had abolished slavery as early as 1824. So the white immigrants that came to Mexico (Texas) from the east wanted to keep the practice, which had become illegal. The United States supported Texas claim for independence and engaged in war with Mexico, eventually stripping Mexico of California and New Mexico as well. The Texans were left alone for 13 more years. But when slavery became illegal in the US as well, they wanted in turn to secede from that federation.
