On the Honda it is not just a simple matter of removing the caliper and sliding off the rotor. Look closely at the rotor and you will notice a Phillips head screw on the face of the rotor. It secures the rotor to the hub. Don't know why Honda does this as it really doesn't serve any useful purpose except to frustrate the guy doing the repair. This screw is almost impossible to remove with a screwdriver. They are soft and with years of corrosion will most likely just get mangled. Best thing to do is use a drill and remove the head and the portion of screw to the hub. The rotor should then slide off easily or with some persuasion with a hammer and lubrication.

This tracks with Chiltons , etc.. But they don't mention... What if this is the lone rotor that Honda used that does not have the screws as mentioned earlier. Only "pins" that seem to hold it in place. Pep Boys mentioned this is a rare rotor and has to be pulled (pressed) off. Can a torch and a hammer remove it as effectively?

Please advise.. there is a tool called in impact wrench works great uses Phillips head and others usually about twenty bucks saves you from drilling out the screw. toyotas are like this also. if you plan on turning your rotor use a puller. use it anyway saves you time, tools, and energy. thanks for the info on the screws it was fifty/ fifty .
