Cats can be delicate things, and need looking after.

Adult cats are fine with being fed twice a day. Some owners leave out a little dry food throughout the day. Fresh water always needs to be available.

Give them a basket with a comfy cushion so they can sleep well at night, or find out where your cat prefers to sleep and line that with blankets.

Find out if your cat is a long-hair or a short-hair. Long hairs need combing once every 2 days. Short hairs are once a week.

Litterboxes should be in quiet areas of the house. Cats like their privacy when toileting, so putting the tray where there isn't much household activity will help the cat feel safe.

If your cats tail is moving wildly then do not touch the cat, it might scratch and bite, and believe me, it hurts. Ensure that the cat has somewhere where it can go if it wants to be alone. Cats like to have "safe" places where they can hide if they are scared by something. Leave the cat alone until it feels it is safe enough to come out.

If you mean, how do you take care of a cat, it is easy. Kittens their peak time is the night, so try and wear them out during the day with their toys in order to minimize nighttime wake-ups. kittens prefer strings with chewable things attached to the end dragged across the floor or crumply things thrown far away. Get them a collar ASAP and have them fixed at a vet after 4 to 6 months. Depending on who gives it to you and what food they suggest, feed it soft or dry food. a bowl of water should be changed 2 or 3 times a week. keep the litter box in one place as to not confuse the kitten. do the same with the food. if the kitten is shy, keep loud or wild children away as to not scare it further, and lay out some food. then give it time to get used to you. pet it softly, and they liked to be scratched under the chin. Cats dont be too wild around them if they are moderately old. pet them a lot so they come to like you even more. if the go outside the box, wash the space very thoroughly so they cant smell the spot and wont think to do it there again. feed according to instructions given by previous owner or pound. mostly, leave them to themselves good luck!

Taking care of a calico cat is just like taking care of any other cat; a cat's coat colour does not depict the kind of care a cat needs to have (Calico is a coat colour, not a breed).

First, you have to do the things that all owners do to their cat. Pet it and feed good quality wet food (a brand that has no cereal or grain and lots of meat) and give it water. Some cats can have a lot of energy, and regardless of energy level, all cats need to play a lot.

Your Kitten jumps on everything is that a stage or will he grow out of it?

Cats pounce on their prey. That is a normal cat behavior. Cats also climb and sit on high places. Also normal cat behavior. Sounds like your kitten is perfectly normal. **Cats (and kittens) love to be in high places. They will NOT outgrow this completely, but they do calm down as they mature. However it can be trained not to jump up on things you do not wish them to jump up on. This takes lots of time and patience though.

If you neuter a charming sociable kitten could he then turn aloof and distant?

No not at all. In fact, if you have a kitten that is on the too frisky side or wild, often the neutering can calm them down. Please phone your vet because the younger you do it (not too young ... the vet will tell you when to bring in your kitten) the easier the operation is on the kitten. When you take the kitten in for neutering please book-off that weekend for at 24 hours to be sure you are home for your kitten. They love to just cuddle up and sleep and feel secure after the operation. Marcy When cats get a little older they tend to become "aloof and distant". Just call him "king kitty", since they all consider themselves to be a member of royalty.

Can cats be crazy?

The term "crazy" is a very subjective word - what may be crazy to others may be completely normal to a different set of individuals. However, many kittens and cats - particularly their behavior and antics - are believed to be crazy by many people. It is well known that cats have their "crazy half-hour" or "cat crazies" where they will hurtle around the house for no apparent reason - and then suddenly stop as soon as it began. This is really very much akin to a small child; children will often run around like mad just to release all that pent-up energy, and it is very likely cats, especially kittens, do the same for the exact same reasons: To release pent-up energy and above all - to have fun! It also serves as a brilliant workout for them. Kittens can often be confusing in this manner: One minute they are calm and cuddly, and the next they are all little teeth and claws and huge wide eyes. For some new kitten owners, this is where it stops being fun and because they think their kitten is "evil", the kitten is put in a shelter. In fact, it couldn't be more from the truth. Kittens play rough, and it doesn't matter if they are a fellow cat or a human as the playmate. They use their teeth and claws and can hurt if not trained properly. Kittens will often grow out of this phase, but many cats are still playful and will happily play with their owners if there isn't another feline companion to play with. This is a far cry from a cat actually being crazy. Few cats have mental illnesses and often have a reason for behaving in a certain way - it is down to the owner to educate themselves about their beloved companion's behavior.

How long do you keep a kitten indoors before allowing it out?

Do not let the kitten out until you are satisfied that he/she will be able to cope with the various dangers that the outdoors presents and that he/she will be able to find his/her way home (we were advised not to let our cats outdoors until they were at least six months old). Make sure the cat has had all its vaccinations, been neutered and been microchipped/is wearing a collar with an id tag. Try to introduce the cat to the outside slowly- accompany it around the garden as it explores and discourage it from leaving until it is used to it, call it back frequently and reward it with a small amount of food or a favourite treat. If you have a conservatory, you can accustom the cat to that first as an intermediate, where they can view the outside but be safely confined. We bring our cats in at night as they are less visible on the roads and therefore more likely to be injured in the dark, if you decide to do this it is a good idea to start from the first time you let them out and make it a routine- they should come in quite happily.

What is better to get as a male or female kitten?

Like people, kittens have different personalities. When young, they all are a bit playful but if you want an active cat, play around with them, a calm cat, watch what they do. It all depends on what you want from your kitten!
