yes they are the same. take heater lines loose from fire wall and take the screws out of the lower passenger dash board. (lines located in engine compartment)
The Heater Core will be located behind the dash. Hope that Helps.
I had this problem before on a ranger you have to pull the dash board out and it will be right there.

heater core is in back of the glove box
youll need to pull the dash out, its a lot of work, then disconnect the heater core hoses under the hood and change it the put the whole dash back in
To change the heater core in a 87 ford f150 is easy. Just remove the glove box and then behind it there is 7 bolts. After you remove the 7 bolts then just remove the cover and behind it is the heater core. By far the easiest heater core I ever changed.
