take out the dash assembly on the passenger side of the inside. there are like four bolts 10 mm i think. dont forget to unhook the hoses that lead into it from the fire wall.
If your heater does not work on your 94 Mazda Protege, check the thermostat. You can also check the heater fuse to ensure it has not blown.
My 92 Protege didn't have a block heater, I had to get one installed.

Replacement of the heater core on a 1993 Mazda Protege is going to first require the removal of the entire dashboard. Once that is removed then the heater control box will need to be removed and disassembled in order to get access to the heater core inside.
