The starter is located on the back of the engine. Support the car on jack stands and you will be able to see the battery cable that needs to be unhooked first and then unplug the starter kill switch. After that go under the hood on the drivers side of the car and you will able to take loose the two bolts that hold the starter in place.

The starter relay can be found underneath the hood on a 1991 Nissan pickup. The starter relay is beside the battery on the passenger side.
They are 4x6.
My '91 Stanza has automatic shoulder restraint but I have to buckle the lap belt.
You can find the 1991 Nissan starter motor relay switch in the fuse box. The starter motor relay switch will be in the third column, second from the bottom.
It is on the pass side of the rear of the engine.
Right under the air filter
Disconnect the positive battery cable, and replace the starter. 2 bolts, a couple of wires , and replace it. It's just that simple.

center of the engine, backside. can only really see it from underneath. it's about 12" from the oil filter, moving from passenger side to driver side (oil filter on passenger side of engine, starter on driver side of engine)
