Here is the deal. Go and get a basic car repair manual at your local parts store. READ it completely! Cover to cover! After you do that and you still do not have any idea on how to do the job put the book away. Go back to your computer and Google for a decent rapair shop.

If you did understand what the book told you then look to see if you have the tools needed. buy the ones you need and get to work. The job can be done outside in a driveway. Just remember to keep oil dry on hand and drain pans. Cover all drain pans to keep pets and other things from getting into things. I sometimes use old carpeting under a car to help catch drips and keep driveways clean.

Be sure you take the cylinder heads in to be pressure tested and resurfaced. Do not try to put them back on without having this done. It will lead only to bad and dark thoughts.

In the 3.1L engine family be VERY certain the push rods are in the proper place. If not the resulting bent valves will lead to bad and dark thoughts. For over head cam engines be very certain to have the timing marks aligned properly. The resulting bent valves and holes in pistons will also lead to bad and very dark thoughts.

The best thing to do is to turn the engine over by hand with the spark plugs out. DO NOT force the engine to turn. The resulting damages will once again lead to them thoughts i mentioned.
