disconnect negative side first.... then disconnnect all connections to the pos cable labelling as you go... replace with new cable... reconnect to battery.
To change the positive battery cable on a 1988 Jeep Cherokee trace the end of the cable to the starter. Unplug the battery then remove the cable from the starter. Measure the old positive cable with the new and be sure to replace the unit at the right size.

Change the positive post? You can change the battery with a new one but you cannot just change the post. If you mean reverse the positions of the positive and negative posts then buy a longer battery cable.

the red cable if there is no red cable usuallly the thicker cable is positive if that does not work look under your vehicle for the starter and fallow the thick wire back to your battery and that is you positive cable.

Connect the Positive + battery cable to the positive + battery post first. Then connect the Negative - cable to the negative - battery post.
Disconnect the positive cable at the 95 1500 battery. Follow the cable to the other end and look at how it was routed. Unhook the cable end and pull it out. Route the new cable in the same way. Connect the cable ends back up.
The battery should have one bar that holds in in place unscrew the nuts that hold the battery down , take your negative battery cable off, next take your positive battery cable off take battery out put the new battery in put the negative cable back on then your positive cable back on put your hold down bar back on tighten your nuts. that's it
