You first disconnect the battery. Then move the components that are in the way of the clutch master cylinder. You will have two items. One will be the clutch reservoir. You will have one bolt to move this item. On the right you will have an electrical component. One bolt & its moved out of your way. there are two connectors that are attached to this unit. You can easily use a flat screw driver to move them away from the electrical component. You will find that it is very easy to do this. use your creative talents to slide the flat screw driver into the electrical connectors & relieve them of the hook up that they have always lived with this component. At this time I can't remember what this component is called. It doesn't matter because all you have to do is move it slightly out of the way to get to the clutch master cylinder. Now on to the clutch master cylinder. Spray some penetrating oil on the unit before you attempt this. Use a flex arm 12mm wrench. The only way to go, unless you will cut your old 12mm wrench down to size. I did that one time & still have the cut down wrench to this day. A straight wrech won't work. Your wrench will have to have a flex neck to be able to work in this tight area. After getting this nut loose you can go inside of the car. You will now have to pull the carter pin out off the yoke that attaches the master cylinder to the pedal. Then unscrew the nuts. I think they are 12mm. I'll check back & tell you later. Use the right long socket not a short one. Short socket will not do on this one. I will update whether or not its a 14 or 12mm. The main thing is that on the left side you will have to be very careful. Its tricky. No space for error. I gave myself the Medal of Honor for this task. After all of my trouble I am about to tell you how to do it without a problem. Be very careful when you take the left nut off. it can fall into a bad place. When you reinstall it, you will have to use scotch tape to tape it to the socket that is attached to your wrench. also you will have to use a flex joint in-between the socket & your extension. Man oh man was this a tough one. Not a job for a person without patience. You will succeed if you use the tape. After you secure the nuts you can go back outside. Make sure you put the gasket back in place on the master cylinder. Tigthen up the line tot he master cylinder & attach the hose. Now its all about getting the air out of the system, I hope you have a friend to help you. i changed the clutch slave cylinder at the same time. There was so much air in my system i thought I would never get it back in shape. It will take some time to get the air out of the system but it will get out. have patience. Don't tighten anything too tight.
2 reasons: 1. There is no fluid in your master cylinder due to a leaking master cylinder or slave cylinder or 2. You blew your clutch
its the brake resivior
It's the slave cylinder.
How do you change a Master Cylinder and hydraulic clutch line for a 1998 Chevy S10?
How to change a clutch and master cylinder on a 93 jeep wrangler
how difficult is it to replace the MS on a 1996 Honda accord
At least the slave cylinder. The clutch master cylinder can be replaced at any time.
im sure this is on the clutch pedal itself.
The master clutch cylinder is attached to the clutch pedal. When one depresses the pedal hydraulic fluid is forced from the master cylinder through the hard line to the slave cylinder. The piston in the slave cylinder is driven against the clutch linkage thereby releasing the clutch.
Remove clutch cable connection and then remove slave cylinder line from master. Then unbolt slave master and remove it. Follow same procedure in reverse order.
The clutch pedal assembly has a clutch rod that pushes in on a clutch master cylinder. There is a hydro line that goes from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder.
The clutch master cylinder is in the engine compartment and the slave cylinder for the hydraulic clutch is inside the manual transmission bellhousing
