You need to go under the hood and take apart the casing that holds the wiper motor, this is the black plastick cover that is right below the windshield. take the cover off of it, there are about 6 or 8 bolts that hold it down. once you get that off you will see the motor there are 3 bolts that hold the motor to the bottom of the casing take them out and unplug the wires, along with the arms for the wipers, it not a very hard job just one that takes some time to figure out!!
Don't know where the wiper motor is, but, the WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP is: UNDER HOOD, PASSENGER SIDE, FRONT ENGINE AREA, CORNER, MOUNTED ON FENDERWELL.
the wiper motor is a basicly a relay switch with low mwdium and high and everything but high is burned out and if it works on high and shuts off you need a new wiper motor.
Check ground circuit I believe that it is a "ground" switched circuit
I had to fix this in my merc and town car,The first I had a mechanic do and it cost about $80.00.If you open the wiper motor cover there is a type of pendulum looking piece of metal that wears out and won't park the wipers any more.I found afterwards that it was cheaper at a local junk yard to buy the entire assembly and switch it out. This is what I did for the town car cost was $10.00. I think 92-98 would work so get as new as you can and it should work for a while.
I had the same problem with my 92 Grand Marquis. Seems that the windshield wiper motor was running in the opposite direction for one reason or another. You may need to replace the motor or have someone look at it. Fortunately for me, my mechanic drilled a hold on the motor and flipped around, now my windshield wipers stay down when not being used, however they stay up when in use... weird.
# Disconnect the negative battery cable # Remove both wiper arm and blade assembles # Remove the cowl grille attaching screws and lift the cowl grille slightly # Disconnect the washer nozzle hose and remove the cowl grille assembly # Remove the wiper linkage clip from the motor output arm # Unplug the wiper motor's three ataching screws and remove the motor
uner the hood ,right beside the bower moter to the right it has 3 bolt hold it on ,
On the Passenger side, under the hood, mounted up on the bottom side of the carpeted dash board. You can see the mechanism under the hood that moves the wiper blades. Follow back to the passenger side and the motor.
Be sure to get the correct replacement wiper blades first. The 1992 Olds 98 takes 22" wipers on both sides front.
the blower motor for a 92 lumina is under the dash on the passenger side...my husband had to change the motor in out car a few months back.... right under the glove box
I would run a jumper wire direct to the wiper motor to see if it powers up. If no power, motor is shot.
I've had a similar problem with my 92 grand marquis. I had to change the mass air flow sensor and replace a broken vacuum line. after that my car ran better than it ever did.
