the fuel pump is located at the rear of the car, in the gas tank. to replace the fuel pump, the entiregas tank must be completley taken out of the car
the fuel pump should "wine" (like a nice Merlot) or "energize" when you turn your key on. When the car is running it also "wines" like an electric motor. You can also hear this outside the car at the trunk. If your car will not start and you suspect it could be the fuel pump, turn your key on, and listen carefully for this sound. You may not have to replace the pump! I went to a repair shop to make an appointment to have the non operating fuel pump replaced in my 1991 Mercury Marquis. They told me the job would cost about $ 500.00 ! But they also told me to try something first.1. Jack up the rear of the car.2. locate the pump.3. Have a helper turn on the ignition switch, do not turn to "start". 4. Simutaneously, you beat on the tank where the pump is located with a rubber mallet. On the 3rd "cycle" of this routine my pump started to work & continues to do so.
Check the fuel pump relay and fuse.
check the fuse and change the fuel pump relay.
Not sure what is wrong with your car but if your fuel pump is not working check your fuse for your fuel pump. check your fuel pump relay on your firewall. low or no fuel presser change your filter.
first check to see if fuel filter is clogged.if you have an electric fuel pump, check the fuel pump fuse. next check the fuel lift pump. then check the injector pump
Check the fuses.
Check your fuel pump and/or fuel pump relays
check for voltage back where the hot wire connects to the fuel pump. also check groundwire off fuel pump. check fuel pump fuse / check fuel pump relay.
check the fuel filter first replace then still a problem , listen for a humming or whine on fuel tank if none change the pump
did you have to change the fuel pump harness plug, if so recheck the wiring order, if that's right check the fuel pump relay's, and all related fuel system fuses, and if all check to be alright, run a code scan on system
You will need a fuel pressure guage to check the fuel pump. The pump operates at 13 psi.
You can check your 1984 928 Porsche fuel pump with a diagnostic tester. You can also check the fuel pump by connecting the wires to a power source and see if the fuel pump operates.
Check the fuel pump pressure and quantity...the fuel pump may show the pressure is good at idle even if it is bad since it is hard to check the pressure during operation or when putting a load on the engine. It is also a good idea to change the fuel filter at the same time you change the fuel pump.
