Piece of cake. With the engine warm, pop the hood and find the transmission dipstick. it will be inside a long tube that's attached to the transmission. Remove the stick, wipe it with a clean cloth, reinsert in in the tube, pull it out and read it. If it's brown and stinks, have it changed. If it's red, clear and stinks, it's fine. If it's low, add dextron Transmission Fluid a quart at a time, reinsert the stick and check it again. Add one quart at a time until it reads full. You may have to wait between quarts for the oil to run down the tube to get an accurate reading. good luck.
There is no dipstick for the Transmission. Plug on rear side of motor. Best thing to do though is take it to Delta Sonic or someplace like that and just have it changed but be sure to ask them not to back flush the system for that causes alot of problems. Also I guess you could ask to see if the fluid is low so you can prevent future problems.
There is no dipstick for the transmission. It has a check valve on the side of the pan.
It doesn't have one but they can check the transmission fluid at any place that does oil changes
Most newer automatic transmissions do not use a dipstick.
The transmission fluid on a 96 Pontiac Grand Am SE is put into the filler tube on the left side of the engine. It runs directly into the top of the transmission and also contains a dipstick to check fluid levels.
When changing fluids in a car, it is important to know the fluid capacity of the car. A 1999 Pontiac Grand AM holds about 5 quarts of transmission fluid.
DextronIII
Dexron III automatic Transmission fluid should be used in a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM. This can be picked up at almost any general store.
When changing the transmission fluid of a car it is important to know its fluid capacity. The 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix holds between 7 and 8 quarts of fluid.
dexron 3
The G5 has a transmission dipstick. Find it and check the fluid level as normal.
I have a 1999 Grand am se and it dont have a dipstick but it do have a red transmission fluid top on the right side of the 3400 sign that could be unscrewed but it don't have anything on it to check the fluid but you could stick your finger in it to see if its anything in it
If your 1993 Pontiac Grand Am will not shift into part, the transmission is probably seized up. The first step is ensuring the transmission fluid is not too low.
