The best way to check fluid on the transmission is to get under the car while it is LEVEL, with the transmission warm and the engine running. Make sure you have the vehicle secured where it cannot be moved!!!! If you crawl under the car, follow thw passenger side CV shaft to where it goes into the transmission. About a half inch from that, on the housing, there will be a bolt with a 7/16 head on it. take that bolt out. Put a drain pan under it, crawl out from under the car. Look under the master cylinder on top of the transmission, you will see a large red cap. Unscrew it, place a long funnel in it, and pour atf (dexron 3) in the funnel until it runs out of the bolt hole. Replace bolt and fill cap, and you are done. If you are changing the fluid, pour 5 quarts into it BEFORE you start it, or tramsmission damage will result.
There is no dipstick for the transmission. It has a check valve on the side of the pan.
It doesn't have one but they can check the transmission fluid at any place that does oil changes
Most newer automatic transmissions do not use a dipstick.
The transmission fluid on a 96 Pontiac Grand Am SE is put into the filler tube on the left side of the engine. It runs directly into the top of the transmission and also contains a dipstick to check fluid levels.
When changing fluids in a car, it is important to know the fluid capacity of the car. A 1999 Pontiac Grand AM holds about 5 quarts of transmission fluid.
DextronIII
Dexron III automatic Transmission fluid should be used in a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM. This can be picked up at almost any general store.
When changing the transmission fluid of a car it is important to know its fluid capacity. The 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix holds between 7 and 8 quarts of fluid.
dexron 3
The G5 has a transmission dipstick. Find it and check the fluid level as normal.
I have a 1999 Grand am se and it dont have a dipstick but it do have a red transmission fluid top on the right side of the 3400 sign that could be unscrewed but it don't have anything on it to check the fluid but you could stick your finger in it to see if its anything in it
If your 1993 Pontiac Grand Am will not shift into part, the transmission is probably seized up. The first step is ensuring the transmission fluid is not too low.
