The 1996 Ford Explorer overdrive sensor can be found on the right hand side of the transmission. The overdrive sensor will be near the front of the transmission.
The MAP sensor on a 1996 Ford Explorer 5.0 is located on top of the engine near the throttle body. It is bolted to the engine and also has a wiring harness attached to it.

As far as I know , the 1994 Ford Explorer - 4.0 L - OHV engine does not have a knock sensor ( in 1996 when Ford went to OBD II / EEC - V the knock sensor was added on the 4.0 L - OHV engine )
