By taking the car somewhere to have the problem(s) fixed that are causing the codes.

There are several ways. You can disconnect the battery, wait a little while and then reconnect it; take it to a place that has a code reader (like Autozone); turn the engine on and off several times.

The main point is that if you haven't fixed what caused the light to come on, it will turn on again. If you take it to a place like Autozone, they will tell you what is causing it to turn on.

The computer or ECU for the 1989 Honda Civic DX is under a metal kick plate under the carpeting on the firewall of the passenger side of the car. If you are looking for the LED to read error codes, there is a hole in the kick plate that will allow you to read the error codes without removing it.http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb39/afullaytor/89Civickickpanel.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb39/afullaytor/89CivicComputer.jpg

two ways to read engine codes. 1. follow the routine detailed in your wksp manual id you have one OR 2. take it to a Honda agent who will have the necessary equipment eg code reader to do the jod, they will also be able to effect a repair at the same time and wipe the error code from the display.
