check the wires going into the rear brake assembly, those go bad, and when they do your abs and trac light stay on, to fix it replace the small pigtail piece by the rear brakes. go Pontiac!
The "trac" button is for traction control. By default, traction control is always on unless you turn it off.
It stands for "enhanced traction system "
It is the front wheel drive traction control light. When your tires spin on wet roads the traction control helps regain your tires grip on pavement. Find the button and push it. The "trac off" light will go off and it will show "traction active" only when the system is in use. Note that you cant do a burn out with traction control "on". :)
ETS on a GT means Enhanced Traction System (ETS) or Traction Control.
There is a push button on the shifter right where your thumb is, that is the trac button. Under normal driving conditions keep it off. Turn it on when it is wet or snowing for better traction control. If you have problems with your abs the light may stay off permanently as the traction control feature is actually the automatic application of the brakes to maintain even traction between the drive wheels.
If it has traction control, there would be a "trac off" switch on the dash.
This button exists on 1999-2005 model Grand Ams. It is the enable/disable switch for "Advanced Traction System" which is GM's fancy term for traction control. Traction control on the Grand Am works by reducing throttle output and possibly by engaging brakes. It is not necessary to ever use the ATS disable switch, but it could be considered a toy for driving enthusiasts. When the ATS switch is active, you should see an amber "Trac Off" light illuminate in the instrument cluster.
i have a 2002 grand marquis and when i driving on the highway at speed of 60 to 70 the light of traction control star to flash way is the problem
click ETS next to the Hazard Lights
AnswerIf it is an A/T you check it at the dip stick. Manual is checked under the car on the side of the trans by removing a plug and feeling for fluid. Trac off means the Traction Control system has been turned off. This information can be found in your owner's manual. Don't have one get one. Dealer or salvage yard is a source. AnswerTher is no transmission dip stick on a 2000 Grand AM. AnswerTac off means traction off, when you have low traction the "low traction" light will come on but if you turn it off the "trac off" light will come on. So basically it means your car will not tell you when you have low traction. Is your ABS light on as well? A common problem with recent Grand Ams would be the speed sensor located inside the wheel hub. If this sensor goes haywire (like many, many have), you will have to replace the entire hub. The sensor itself is not serviceable. FYI.there is a button you can push to turn the electronic traction system off and on my 2002 se has it on the dash right by the hazard light button some models have it by the shifterthe traction system controls the engine so when wour wheels slip it corrects the problem giving you extra traction
ets is enhanced traction system ... pretty much, it prevents the wheels from slipping and increase traction (obviously) but, its wicked fun to turn off because the tires spin out essentially, the way this works is that the system reduces engine output ... so there you go
they both spin.
