first thing i would do is check the trailer wiring for a good ground and any breaks in the wiring. then check both ends of trailer/truck pigtail to make sure no loose wires and no dirt and a good tight fit in the plug ins you might check the light bulbs as well, you also need to check the voltage at the pigtail..if that is good go back under the cab to the plug for the pigtail where it comes out of the cab..if that is good go to ther fuse panel.(#29 I think). if ther is voltage there...it could be the relay or the wire...you'llhve to trace it out to see.

How is a trailer different from a semi-trailer?

Trailer is way more bigger than a semi-trailer. Common misconception between a trailer and a semi-trailer. How to back a semi truck?

Stop the truck, shift into reverse, let off the clutch. Or, if you have an automatic, you just push the button for reverse, then take your foot off the brake. As for maneuvering a trailer, turn the wheel to the left to turn the trailer right and vice versa. If you get a diecast model of a semi truck and trailer and maneuver the trailer while you back it up, it could give you a basic understanding of how it works.

Why do the call a tractor trailer truck a Semi?

You call it a semi because it pulls a semi trailer.A semi is a type of trailer. A semi-trailer, as opposed to a full trailer, means it only has axles at the rear of the trailer and a full trailer has axles at the front and rear of the trailer. We call these in the UK "drags", as in wagon and drag, where the wagon that pulls the drag can carry a load on its own, whereas the semi-trailer truck, or tractor unit cannot carry anything without a trailer.

Where did the term semi come from?

The word semi means half, or part. The tractor and trailer are two parts, hence semi truck and or trailer.
