Check the fluid level. If it is ok, then a transmission shop is the next thing. Ask around to find a good trustworthy shop. Talk to your friends about where to take your car for repairs.
The shifter. D is for drive which is forward and R is for reverse. N is for neutral. You have to have the breaks pressed down all the way in order to move out of park and into D or R.
Depends on the transmission. Many transmission bands are not adjustable.
Check your Automatic Transmission fluid level
Most likely issue is a motor mount collapsed. The second most likely is a misfire.
Put it into reverse when moving rapidly forward.
If referring to the letters on the gear shift, they are commonly called the prindle, for Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive and Low. The stamped identification numbers on the transmission itself are the id numbers with additional information such as build sequence and the date of manufacture.
