By going on a cruise to the Canary Islands. Currently, you can also get to Tenerife by ship from Portland, Dorset, England. The last working Royal Mail ship in the world, the RMS St Helena, sails to Saint Helena, Ascension Island, Tenerife, Portland, Walvis Bay and Cape Town.
The ship will have reached the end of its working life by the time the airport is built on the island of St. Helena (estimated 2012 / 2013) so the future of the service after that date looks uncertain.
There are a couple of ferry companies that sail from Tenerife to the Spanish or Portuguese mainland in Europe. From there, you can drive up to somewhere like Calais and take the cross-Channel ferry or the Channel Tunnel to the UK.
There does appear to be non-stop flights from the UK to the South Airport of Tenerife. This is dependant on when you plan to fly and from what part of the UK you are flying from.
Tenerife is really accessible. Top budget airlines such as Ryanair and easyjet fly there from 100's of airports around the world. If you are flying from the UK most airports have flights to Tenerife and in 2011 two new air routes open from the UK operated by Jet2.com and Easyjet and flying from Glasgow and Bristol airports. Hope this helps - its a great place for a holiday!
