THE STEERING WHEEL IS PROBABLY HOLDING TIGHT , SLIGHTLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, IF ITS NOT LOCKED FROM ITS POSITION FROM TURNING THE CAR OFF, IF NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON AND OFF AGAIN BUT TURN YOUR STEERING WHEEL SIDE TO SIDE, IT USED TO HAPPEN TO ME AND ACTUALLY HAPPENED 2 MY WIFE THEY JUST JAM UP IN THE IGNITION, THAT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR PROBLEM. HOPE IT WORKS OUT

This is cheaper than replacing switch, but you will lose anti theft system. It is possible that the resistor in the key itself has been damaged. A dealer would be able to make you a new key.
