TO AND PROCAUTION JUST LOOK HOW AND REMEMBER WHICH ONE CAME OFF WHICH PRONG,JUST REMEMBER TO UNHOOK THE POSITIVE IN THIS PROCEEDER.AT THIS TIME IWOULD OBSERVE THE HOT WIRE FIRST FROM THE STARTER...GOOD LUCK
On a 98 Pontiac Sunfire, the red color of wire goes on the terminal marked "B" on the starter. This terminal is located close to the battery of the vehicle.

Hey, every starter is located at the end of the hot cable from your battery. ( the cable marked red on the battery or with the + sign.
There isn't one. The heavy positive cable goes directly to the starter. The solenoid is what transfers the heavy amperage to the starter. The wire from the ignition goes to the connector marked s.
There is no starter relay on an Escort. The main battery positive cable goes directly to the starter. A small wire with a clip on it marked s goes to the solenoid. The main battery current to the starter is supplied with this solenoid.
Take it to a Sparky.
The small purple wire goes on the small terminal marked "S". The small yellow wire goes on the small terminal marked "R".
If you can get to the starter, you hook up one side of the switch to the terminal that goes to the battery and the other side of the switch to the small terminal marked with and "S". "S" is for starter. The other small terminal you leave alone. Applying power to this terminal will damage the starter.
