normally idle around 1000rpm
when u first start the car it will idle high, around 1.5 rpm to 2 rpm. when its warm up it should idle between 700-1000 rpm
it only studders at low rpm it runs great at high rpm or accelerating only at idle and take off rpm
Adjust your idle.
I believe the ignition timing for a 5.0 L high output engine in a 1985 Ford Mustang is : 10 degrees BTDC ( with a manual transmission ) and 8 degrees BTDC ( with an automatic transmission ) I don't know what the idle RPM is supposed to be , anybody else know ?
The IAC valve is just that...The Idle Air Control Valve. It is responsible for keeping the idle at set parameters. And yes, it can make the engine idle at high RPM.

change the TPS Throttle Position Sensor
It will idle as low as 600 rpm.It will idle as low as 600 rpm.
It shouldn't idle that high the factory idle setting is around 900 RPM's check to make sure nothing is sticking and check vacuum lines. Good luck fixing your problem.
