if you can cuz this has happened to us, take the cover off, then pull the lever up, it's pretty hard so you have to have strength to get it open, my husband had to wear a pare of gloves cuz it hurt his hand, but if you have the money just go to Dodge, n have them do it, you will more than likely have to get a new latch for it, once those are broke they stay broke..... we own 3 jeeps, 2 Jeep grand Cherokees and 1 jeep Cherokee that we climb n mud in, if you have n e more questions message me at jessie262009@hotmail.com
