If there is a hood release latch inside, you will still have to release the safety latch under the hood (same area as described above) to open the hood. i have an 87 silverado and it has a pull lever under the dash then a lever under the hood i expect an 86 would be the same.... if you cant open the hood i would hate to see what ur ganna ask once you see whats under it
