Insert something thin and hard, such as a pocket knife blade, in between the remote halves. After this, simply pull the halves apart and replace the old battery with the new. Snap the remote back together.

I'm not sure how old this topic is, but I stumbled across it in a Google search and saw it un-answered. Remote start is NOT standard on the 2003 Grand Prix GTP. I'm not even sure if it was an option or not. When my wife bought her '03 GTP used, she had the dealer install an aftermarket remote start for it. I know it was standard on my '06 Grand Prix GXP, but I'm not sure of the other trim levels.

Two years ago, I replaced two transmitters plus programming . Cost 198 bucks. This was on my 97 GT. Good luck. JK I got a key and remote from e-bay for $50, programmed the key and remote myself.
