Look under the column, there should be a hole with a recessed release button. Put the key in and turn it back while pressing the release with something small enough to fit in there. I used an awl and it was really easy These instructions actually refer to replacing the Ignition Lock Cylinder. Replacing the actuator usually involoves pulling the steering wheel.
i need a wiring diagram with pictures to help put my ignition switch back together on my 99 olds intrigue
generally, the ignition switch is where u put the key
Put a jumper wire across the terminals on the switch if the lights work (with ignition switch set to "on" position) switch is defective
You need to remove the steering wheel first with a puller. There is a latch you can trip with a small screwdriver that will let the ignition switch slide out. Simply replace the switch and put the steering wheel back on.
If you have a replacement ignition switch for the same bike. You take the retaining nut off the end of the key barrel and slide it out and you unplug it, then you plug in the new one and put the new key barrel back in and tighten the nut.
pull steering wheel move everything out from around ignition switch and there is 2 hair thin wires they break very easy put them back together put heat shrink tubing on them and your good 2.oo fix
The ignition lock is where you put the key. The ignition switch is located on the top of the steering column directly above the brake pedal.
if it is 92-97 remove steering column covers then using a small drill locate small hole on the underside of column under the ignition switch drill out pin inside and slide switch out then spend about 13 dollars on new switch slide new one back in put covers back on column
4wd actuator switch is probably bad. had the same problem on my 03.
If you mean the ignition switch- it is located on the steering column under the dash, you can remove the bolts holding the steering column in place and lower it. the switch is on top of the column and easy to get to with it lowered. unplug switch remove nuts, make note of where the actuator rod goes, it must fit into the switch at the proper location, if you haven't moved the lock cylinder you should be fine. after putting rod into little groove in the switch put it back onto column and tighten nuts. reattach plug and secure steering column. it would be good to get a repair manual from NAPA or another store it helps.
If you know where to put the key in, you know where the ignition switch is... Actually, safe to say you should stay away from it.
