It will be on the left side of the tail stock of the transmission.
If you know the velocity you can find the speed, you don't need a sensor.

The speed sensor in located in the front of the motor. You can find it near the transmission and the engine split line on the Jetta.
replacing speed senor is not a hassle. all you have to do is find SPEED SENSOR, all cars are different, in my honda theres 4, i have replaced two already. speed sensor should be on transmission. remove bolts and pull out. simple put in new sensor.

The speed sensor is at the back of the transfer case behind the handbrake. Series 2 can use a signal from the auto trans.
I have an 03 grand am gt, there is only one way to check out the speed sensor, bring it to a garage and have them scan it for you... this will get it correct.

The speed sensor it located on the top of the transmission under the air cleaner box. I'm told there are two, but I can only find one on my car.
